Collaborating with In Cultured Company on their brand identity was especially meaningful for us. As a Dominican-American-founded studio, we recognize the importance of fostering unity and understanding between Haitians and Dominicans, especially in light of the ongoing injustices and harmful narratives that too often shape perceptions on both sides of the island. Supporting In Cultured Company’s mission to end legacies of conflict and build racial, social, and economic justice felt personal—an opportunity to push back against hate and misinformation while amplifying the educational work, research, and community-building that they do so well. Our goal was to help them present a visual identity that reflected this bridge-building spirit, while creating a brand that felt warm, grounded, and deeply rooted in the shared history of Hispaniola and its diaspora.

The brand and logo design process included selecting fonts, colors, and iconography that thoughtfully communicated their values. We chose Libre Franklin and Libre Baskerville, fonts that by coincidence echoed the concept of freedom while offering a clean, modern aesthetic. The logo features two overlapping icons of the island of Hispaniola, symbolizing the interconnectedness of the Dominican Republic and Haiti without emphasizing division. This subtle yet powerful design choice reflects the organization’s work to mend relationships and build bridges. In addition to the visual identity, we supported their brand transition with consulting, social media templates, and guidance on translating the new look across their digital platforms.
